Hothead Technologies, Inc. Partners with OEM and Launches the Patented Heat Observation Technology TM System for Football Players.
Atlanta, Georgia, June 2, 2008 - The Heat Observation Technology System (also termed HOT system) was developed to provide coaches and athletic trainers with an early-warning detection tool for use during the hot summer football season. As part of Hothead Technologies' ongoing strategy, they have selected an OEM partner for the manufacturing some of the internal helmet componentry.
By utilizing an intelligent long range technology (ILR), Hothead Technologies was able to develop a unique monitoring system that tracks players' body temperatures from inside the football helmet.
Each year record-setting summer temperatures take a devastating and often tragic toll on football players. Hothead Technologies has developed a patented, and unique, one-of-a-kind helmet heat sensing technology that will provide coaches and athletic trainers with a cutting-edge tool to alert them when players are in danger of overheating.
The team at Hothead Technologies has been working rigorously to have their HOT system available for football teams around the nation for the 2008 summer season.
Available to all levels of football including: professional, college, high school, middle school, and youth, the Heat Observation System is the first of its kind to hit the market. Developed to protect players and aid coaches, athletic trainers, and referees from the major shifts in the summer weather patterns that continue to plague football players; the preliminary response has been overwhelming.
How it works
The Heat Observation Technology (HOT) system will provide football teams with embedded heat technology sensors in each helmet containing wireless reporting technology that sends body temperature readings to a customized, data-driven PDA. The Heat Observation Technology (HOT) system communicates temperature readings to the Hothead Technologies PDA from a 300-yard plus radius thereby easily monitoring an entire football team while players actively practice. When a player's body temperature reaches a preset thermal danger zone and remains at that level for predetermined time, the helmet sensor will notify the coach or athletic trainer by issuing a warning in the form of an audible alert on the PDA. The athlete once in danger of possible heat stress can now be quickly protected from this injury.
"During our technology awareness campaign, we spoke with hundreds of coaches and athletic trainers from professional, college, and high school organizations and all agree that the ability to closely monitor athletes' temperatures will be a tremendous breakthrough for any and all football teams," says Hothead Sports Vice-President of Corporate Marketing and Branding, Keith Sutton.
Hothead Technologies is currently taking the system through rigorous operational tests and will complete its final phases in this summer 2008. "The key objective in the development of our product is to help protect our youth and young adults from deadly heat exposure. Every year we hear about the tragic death of football players from heat-related complications. We just want to do our part to combat this silent killer," comments Jay Buckalew, CEO and founder of Hothead Technologies.
The Heat Observation Technology product will be available through Hothead Technologies, Inc. Get product information via the website or by contacting the Hothead Technologies customer support team at 1-678-783-1071.
